STEWART INGLES

1928–2011

Stewart commenced his love of trout fishing in the Penguin area as a boy. Due to the decline of trout in North West waters he joined the Devonport branch of the N.W.F.A. in 1979; during his service with the branch he held the positions of Treasurer, Secretary and Association Delegate for many years. Stewart held positions of Treasurer/Secretarty, Patron, Committee Member, FACT Secretary and founding member of the Tasmanian Trout Fishing Championships for the North Western Fisheries Association. He was awarded Life Membership of the Association in 1991 for services rendered. Stewart was elected as Inland Fisheries Associate Commissioner for the North West coast region, serving from 1988 to 1994. Stewart was highly respected and well known to Tasmanian anglers, a true gentleman, with excellent administrative abilities. He remained an active fish administrator throughout his life, with the support of his much loved wife Marie, until his passing in July 2011.
