AAT’s Position on Van Dairy

Anglers Alliance Tasmania notes with interest the recent sale of 12 separate farms, by Van Dairy holdings, to Prime Value Investments.

Effluent problems have been known since 2018, culminating in a recent EPA investigation.

Although reassured that “ Prime Value Investments has established a “management plan” with the Tasmanian Dairy Industry Association, EPA and Circular Head Council” AAT remains concerned that the rivers flowing through this area are some of the worst performing waterways in Tasmania and the Welcome River the very worst.

Can Tasmanians have confidence in the regulator, Tas Dairy Industry Assoc, if these matters have gone unresolved on the biggest dairy concern in Australia ?  How can we be assured the regulator is enforcing guidelines  designed to protect other rivers around the state ?
